The title of this work is “Disappointment and Turnip.” The subject of the work is the vegetable turnip, and it depicts an unexpected betrayal that occurs. There are many turnips, the main characters, placed on the screen, and each one has a look of sadness and despair on its face. I think the portrayal makes it easy to read the feelings of the personified turnips. We can also see the turnips multiplying, and this painting reminds us that such a tragic state is normal in the human world.
この作品は「失意とかぶ」という題名です。野菜のかぶが主題で、そこに思いがけない裏切りが起こってしまう様子が描かれています。主人公のかぶは画面上に沢山配置されていますが、それぞれが悲しみにうちひしがれた表情をしています。擬人化されたかぶの心情が、読み取れる描写になっていると思います。また、かぶが増殖していく様子が見られ、このような悲惨な状態が人間世界の通常であることを、この絵画が思い出させてくれます。
