Go forward or go back?

Dialogue of Green and the Cross: Attuning to Your Soul

I am Mimi Takamizawa, a painter.

I always wish to create artwork that reaches deep into your heart.

This is because I believe art is a medicine that salvages the human soul.

The piece I would like to introduce to you today is titled “Go forward or go back?”.

In Japanese, it is called 「先へ進むか退くか」 (Saki e susumu ka shirizoku ka).

I created this artwork to encourage you to contemplate your own actions when facing choices in daily life.

The background of the painting features a calm, deep green color.

And against that background, a cross quietly emerges.

In life, we confront moments of decision over and over again.

Should you move forward, or should you take a step back?

While gazing at this painting, please take your time to converse with your own heart.

This piece was painted with all my heart to serve you when you find yourself in the midst of hesitation.

My spirit of devotion to you is condensed into this single artwork.

The Eye as a Window to the Spirit

In my artwork, motifs of the eye are scattered everywhere.

Let me explain why I chose the sensory organ of the eye as my motif.

You have probably heard the proverb, “The eyes say as much as the mouth.”

The eye is not merely a place that captures light; it is a window to the spirit, directly connected to the brain.

No matter how much one lies with words, the true heart reveals itself when you look into their eyes.

I approach my work with the core theme of “Your eyes, my eyes.”

When the eyes within the painting meet your eyes, a special connection is born right there.

Staring into the eyes is the exact same thing as peering into the deep world of your own spirit.

When you stand before this artwork, the eyes in the painting will surely question you.

That inquiry might just become a medicine that gently heals your soul.

A Technique Where Digital and Tradition Merge

This artwork is created using cutting-edge digital technology.

Then, the completed data is brought to life using the giclée printmaking technique.

Giclée is a state-of-the-art printmaking technology utilizing high-definition inkjet printing.

Using this technique, I carefully print the artwork onto high-quality printmaking paper.

The infinite colors of digital and the warm texture of paper merge together.

The size of the artwork is finished in an easy-to-display A4 size.

It is a size that fits softly into your favorite spot in your room.

By placing it in a familiar space, my artwork can stay close to you at any time.

Whenever you wonder whether to go forward or go back, please look at this painting.

The beauty of digital art and paper will gently embrace your space.

A Light that Illuminates Your Actions

There are no correct answers to life’s choices.

Moving forward is right at times, while stepping back is the best choice at other times.

The green background restores a sense of security and calmness to you.

The cross in the background is a symbol of prayer watching over your choices.

And the scattered eyes are allies that gaze upon your true essence.

This artwork exists like a mirror for you to find the answers yourself.

My wish as Mimi Takamizawa is for your soul to become even a little bit lighter.

Please receive insights from this painting that are enjoyable and beneficial for your life ahead.

I believe that this artwork, painted just for you, will brightly illuminate your future.
